Newsletter 07 2020
Frame Awards, ISPO and SPOBIS 2020
Dear friends of ASB – just like all of you, we are trying our best to keep everybody safe and healthy in these uncertain times. Nonetheless, we are working hard to continue providing our customers with the best possible products. So today, here is a little update on what we were able to accomplish over the past couple of months…
We hope you all are safe and well!

ASB at Frame Awards 2020
Between the 19th and 20th of February, ASB presented its latest architectural project, „ASB DigitalWallpaper“. The installation demonstrates how public spaces can change their purpose at an instant. The visitor is submerged in a very different emotional environment each time he/she passes the space, although the physical environment does not change.
With digital installations like ASB’s „DigitalWallpaper“ at its centre, spatial design can easily incorporate the human need for change on a daily basis. Digital installations at the heart of design concepts allow for true multi-purpose spaces, that encourage human interaction and can inflict emotional reactions.
ASB Architectural focuses on the creation of such spaces by applying a radical approach to technology. Rather than using screens to convey written information or advertising messages, the focus is on integrating digital hardware in spatial design. The human eye or touch is never directly exposed to LED screens, but to a glass surface; a tangible screen which meets all requirements for interior applications in high-end environments.

ASB at ISPO 2020
After having such a great time at ISPO 2019, we went back to ISPO 2020, taking place at the Messe München in January. For this years‘ ISPO, we set up a 168 sqm LumiFlex floor as our main attraction. Uni-Liga Deutschland organized street soccer games on our floor and guests had the chance to take part in one-on-one games with the talented German goalkeeper Kim Sippel, who was part of the German National Team winning the „Socca World Championship“ in 2018.
Plus, we presented the augmented reality game HADO to the public – a new and exciting game from Asia. Imagine it as a kind of Dodgeball game, played in front of portable graffiti walls with VR goggles and wristband trackers, involving lots of crazy moves to dodge imaginary balls.
But take a look at our highlight video to see more.
ASB at SPOBIS 2020
At the end of January, we attended the SPOBIS 2020 in Düsseldorf, one of the largest sports business industry events in Europe.
Together with the Volleyball Bundesliga, Christof was part of a panel discussion on the topic of ‚Multi-functional opportunities: new technology for Indoor Sports‘. The talk also revolved around the comdirect Supercup 2019, the first professional competition held on an interactive floor, our ASB LumiFlex. The competition was a great success for players and the audience alike, thus resolving doubts about professional sports on LED floors – for an insight into this happening, make sure you stop by our YouTube channel and watch the recap video there!

ASB on TV! Season 3 – Joko & Klaas gegen ProSieben
Once again our LumiFlex floor co-starred next to the two German entertainers Joko und Klaas in ‚Joko und Klaas gegen ProSieben‘, season three. The boys were yet again taking on several German celebrities, while our floor provided them with the right ambience and possibilities for games. For an insight into this German show, which again resulted in great viewer numbers, visit ProSieben’s homepage or check out the games uploaded to their YouTube channel.
Recently completed projects
On Your Marks (OYM), Cham, Switzerland
MultiSports floor, 1,400m²
We installed our very first MultiSports floor in Switzerland at the brand new state-of-the-art “On Your Marks” sports facility in Cham. The idea behind OYM is to provide athletes with the best wholesome training opportunities possible, so they can focus on their athletic performance, all in one place and without any distractions. Naturally, our ASB MultiSport was the perfect fit for such a facility.
Here is a video for our German-speaking viewers:
Sol St. George’s College, Weybridge, UK
MultiSports floor, 1.559m²
Despite the fact we already shared some images of this project in one of our earlier newsletters, we still wanted to take this opportunity to show our latest photos of the fully finished hall with you. Together with a climbing wall, the 1,559m² ASB MultiSports floor beautifully accommodates St. George’s College’s new sports facility, the largest UK MultiSports floor to date. In combination with the wooden walls, the grey glass floor creates a classy but modern look. The floor hosts 10 different sports which can all interchange within the touch of a button via a touchscreen controller, providing students with a wide range of training possibilities.
The versatility and robustness of the floor enables the school to host gym classes, events, exams and school assemblies all in one space. No special covering of the floor or other precautionary measures are required before a non-sporting event – and when the event is over, simply clean the surface to remove any residues and it is ready for the next round of sports. A true multi-functional, multi-sport floor!

New team members at ASB!
Once again we have welcomed two new team members into the ASB family since the last Newsletter was released.
Peter Schroll is the latest addition to the team at ASB GlassFloor’s headquarters in Stein an der Traun – Peter will be in charge of our financial department, replacing Andreas Ankenbrand, who recently moved on to meet new challenges in Switzerland. Having an extensive Triathlon background, Peter likes to stay busy in his free time where you can find him running and biking, as well as conquering peaks on his skis. Peter is excited to be a part of our endeavour to change the world of sport!
Raffael Breu is our new sales and marketing intern. He recently graduated college with a BA in Communication in Salt Lake City, Utah, before moving back home to Bavaria and joining us at ASB.
In winter he likes to slide down mountains with two planks strapped to his feet, while in summer he tries to pass the time outdoors as well, hiking, biking and climbing.
We wish our two newcomers the best of luck!

And last but certainly not least…
A little insight into our very own ranks – Christof was only 29 years old when he became Managing Director of ASB in 2016. At first, he was not so sure that taking over his father’s legacy was the right thing for him to do. But oh boy, are we glad and happy that he did! And so, here is a little video checking out who Christof is… enjoy! 🙂
